Graumagazin.com

Graumagazin is a Berlin-based art magazine. I designed and developed its website using Kirby CMS (HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, YAML), focusing on a clear editorial structure and a flexible publishing system. The main challenge was to balance a strong visual identity with usability — rethinking standard UI patterns to support long-form content, categorization, and evolving editorial needs while keeping the interface intuitive and lightweight.

The website features two homepages: A classic homepage with vertical scrolling, and an alternative homepage that activates when clicking “change views.” In this mode, the elements reposition themselves, and navigation functions like an online map.

I built a flexible admin interface using Kirby, enabling GRAU’s editorial team to manage all content independently. Editors can publish and update articles, edit metadata, and curate the homepage by selecting featured pieces, customizing thumbnails, and adjusting colors and layout — all without writing any code.
